The underground can get pretty powerful if one conquers the other early and you take a long time to go underground.

I have won the map with every faction multiple times (playing only on heroic)and had a number of playtesters also who played various positions.
Here are a couple of suggestions: Make sure you take the mines and external dwellings as quickly as possible. Also, you are told where the grail is located. Take it as soon as possible and get it back to your starting town asap. Again, the computer does not get extra troops (other than a few lower level troops on day 1.)
Explore with a secondary hero to get resources from the sea and to discover the location of a nearby dragon city. Conquer the dragon city as early as you can.
Every faction is very much winable. Try again.

FOR EXAMPLE WHEN I START THE GAME WITH THE RED PLAYER OR THE GREEN ONE, AFTER 2 MONTHS THE YELLOW PLAYER(KNIGHT) APPEARS WITH A HUGE ARMY WITH 100 PALADINS.
I HAD TO START THE GAME PLAYING WITH THE KNIGHT'S FACTION IN ORDER TO FINISH IT IN THE HEROIC LEVEL.
Author: Grumpy Old Wizard (USA), 24-09-2007 01:49 My maps and answers Well, I'm glad you like my maps. :) The temple is in the middle of the passageway right next to the fog that you can't go through. If you haven't found that yet you need to explore more of the underground. If you got the ancient passage message you are going in the right direction.
@Oleg: If the you are having trouble with morale then try switching some of your artifacts to morale boosters.

That's what happens when you develop Silent Stalker - you discover remote areas without getting anywhere near them and you chance to miss some important stuff on your way. I never even noticed the border guards and the portal beyond the fog!
Thanks alot for the hint, without it I wouldn't have finished the map, which was actually one of the best I've played lately. Excellent work, 10/10 from me.
Author: Grumpy Old Wizard (USA), 29-08-2007 02:45 You must visit the temple When you reached the area close to the fog in the ancient tunnels you should have gotten a message to check out the temple. There is a temple there in the middle of the tunnel, just before you reach the impassable fog. Go visit it.

I defeated everyone else and explored the whole terrain, including the visible underground, but the purple player is nowhere to be found... There's a two way portal close to the wizards castle, but it's kind of stuck in the rock and is unaccessible, even with Instant Travel.
Any suggestions?
