Heroes 4: Winds of War

Zanfas was one of the wealthiest and most respected men in Lugast, but he was without an heir. So, he had set up a challenge and invited several well-known adventurers to take part. The goal of the contest was simple - defeat all opponents and conquer Zanfas' Island. The victor became the heir to the wealthiest empire in all of Lugast. This caused an unforseen problem. The winner of that competition was not loyal to the throne. With all that wealth and troops at his disposal, the victor of that competition ursurped rulership. To make matters worse, he is an incompetent ruler! Now, the Kingdom is falling apart with civil wars, marauding parties running wild and an economy crumbling. Even Death and Chaos realize that the realm can not stand in such disarray. A new ruler must be established. But with so many different ideals on how that ruler must be, there is only one way to unite the Kingdom. That is by force of arms.

This means war!

This is a heavily modified map of Zanfas' Challenge. The victory condition has been modified; in this modifcation, victory comes by being the only player to own towns.

Included in this modification are new quests, dungeons, oracles, playing areas (with a widely expanded subterranean level), towns, inns, blacksmiths, portals, roaming armies and dwellings. Be forwarned, there are dangers on this map signifcantly greater than the dangers faced on the original Zantas' challenge.

Each faction begins with (2) Level 5 Heroes and a city of origin.
