Lord Rufos, der Vater von Diana, ist gestorben und nun soll Diana das Reich weiter fuhren. In ihrer Kindheit hat Rufos sie an Andachin versprochen, damals noch ein guter Freund, in der Hoffnung, sie beide konnen das Reich gemeinsam gut fuhren und verteidigen.
Doch nun, da Andachin sich in Laufe der Zeit zum Nekromanten entwickelte, weil er keine Lust auf Ehrlichkeit und guten Heldentaten hatte, will er dieses Reich und alle Gegenden zusammen beherrschen. Dazu braucht er aber Diana, die mit ihm an seiner Seite herrschen und seine Interessen annehmen soll. Er verlangt nun sein Recht auf die Versprochene.
Doch Diana erhebt sich und will ihn aus der Welt schaffen.

The soft snow was spinning round slowly and falling gently on the ground making the snowdrifts bigger and bigger. Snowflakes looked like sparkles and the landscape was magnificent.
Suddenly one of the snowdrifts moved and a large hatch opened; it led underground. The soldiers of the dwarfs' army were going out and making troops very quickly. The soldiers were all well-matched: strong, thickset, wearing iron-bound armour.
An old black raven which was sitting on top of the fir-tree was watching it. "It seems as if these little men started the war. They would be a very good treat!" the raven thought. Давно произошёл катаклизм --- горы превращались в холмы, холмы в равнины, равнины в низины и озёра. Осталась лишь река Ретурейн, вьющаяся серпантином обновлённого русла по этой невозделанной земле.
В дни войны со всех сторон сюда стекались беженцы, дезертиры и ловкачи, чтобы обосноваться в этих краях. Естественно многие политики из разных фракций тоже переезжали в более тихие места и основовали свои поселения.
