Awesome map! - Some Say the End is Near
I am really enjoying this map. Specifically I like the difficulty in the early game, and I like the various hidden rewards and quests found throughout the world. The layout is also really nice, not too complicated. I usually don't like too many portals, but in this map they make sense and was able to navigate easily. I also like that there are a few town portals scatterred around. I didn't beat this yet (Lucifer keeps kicking my a**) but that's probably because I'm bad at this game. One thing I noticed was that I found it much easier to play as Stronghold rather than Tower. Tower seemed much harder to play, I am not sure if it's intended or if it's just me. Overall, great work and thank you for making this!

Good to hear that you liked the map. I feel like it's hard to balance the factions perfectly when they have different starting paths and missions, but maybe if i do another version i will do some balancing regarding Tower (and the somewhat hard quest line they have).

Btw. I have a new map coming in a week or two, so if you liked this one i think you'll like the next as well! :)

I won't try anymore.

Dear fellow HOMM enjoyers - Some Say the End is Near
So i decided to make a third and (hopefully) final version of the map.

Changes are made after carefully reading feedback from players so hopefully the experience is made more enjoyable:

- All starting zones are made easier/faster to play through.
- Creatures in starting zones are made easier to beat and every player is given even more resources than in the previous version.
- Lucifer has been nerfed to make the game less chaotic and more enjoyable.
- Greater difference in diffulty: 160% should now be managable to most players.
- Every main quest door is now DD proved, so noone spoils the questing.
- Minor other fixes

Let me know your thoughts :)

A bit too difficult - Some Say the End is Near
Overall very promising design, a lot of fun exploring. But pink is a bit overpowered, and the map lacks some "middle" challenges - other players and monsters mean almost nothing in the middle game, and pink is so overpowered that it might be even impossible to gather as many skill points as Lucifer has on the whole map.

Promising, but needs work.

- It might be possible to be stronger than him - but that's really not the point of the map. The point is to overtake heaven before he destroys you. I hope the idea comes across alright, that if you have enough creatures to kill Pink (including lucifer), you have played too slowly as you could've already completed the map. :)

Quite good but a bit cumbersome - Some Say the End is Near
First, I really liked the map, the quests and diverse initial positions for the players. There are many quests / hidden places, so the exploration is rewarding. Even the final fight was challenging — so much, so good. I had a lot of fun, so thank you for your efforts :)

Still, IMHO the map could be much better. The worst part is the middle-game, after releasing the Lucifer, who spoils the fun too much. Giving him dimension door was especially a bad idea for at least reasons. 1) he fairly quickly found the black keymaster and opened access to the airship yard. Having the airship, one could easily ignore almost all the gates — either don't give him DD or make sure every gate is "DD-proof"; 2) he randomly cleans the map of many interesting challenges, making it a bit empty; 3) he is too chaotic, the game becomes too much luck (save/load) driven.

Other than that, I mostly agree with Oleg. Random monsters make the game heavy depending on the luck factor. The scarcity of the resources and constant fear of the chaotic Lucifer doesn't really make the map more interesting, it's just more cumbersome. It's not the difficulty I'm looking for in the HoMM3 maps.

PS the guard at 93,11,0 can be bypassed .

Firstly, i'm glad that you enjoyed the map overall! Secondly, i totally agree regarding your points on Lucifer! I'm currently making a new (hopefully final) version, where he should be a bit less chaotic - even though i quite like that he seems scary to the player so you have to kite him, unless you are already on your way to heaven. Also getting the every main gate DD-proof.

Regarding the "tough start" i'm doing a bit more boost for the players playing on 160% diff now. I played through the opening section with Fortress and getting the prison was doable within the first 28 days, even though i rolled triple sea dogs and one air element stack in the starting zone. Then again, i made the map, so it's harder for others - But i'm no HOMM god, so who knows :)

Amazing! - Some Say the End is Near
So this is probably one of the most fun maps, i’ve played recently!

After several attempts i won as dungeon. What i did: Flagged only the dragon lairs and used portal of summoning to max dragons out in the towns. Solved quest with armor of the damned and got Gunnar out as main. From there i controlled the middle!

it’s so much fun that each town has unique quests! Anyway great map and i don’t agree with the comment about too few resources - think the beginning was challenging but fun to play.

Following the feedback i got from some of you, i've made an update for the map:

- AI opponents (not pink) boosted further
- All starting zones given a few more resources.
- End battle made a bit harder
- One OP hero is a bit harder to get
- Other minor fixes and improvements

Unecessary difficult - Some Say the End is Near
I appreciate your efforts given that this is your first map or so, but the map turns out to be unnecessarily and boringly complicated. First, random monsters guarding everything on the resp are not a good idea, because when you play on impossible level, it takes many times to restart until you get a decent and playable one, and to find out you have to check and waste time (as everything is scattered around) - no good. What's more, about scarcity of resources and having everything so annoyingly scattered - this is just not in the spirit of this game. You have to literally strive for any benefit. I'm ok when this is a map like Metataxer's revenge where everything is puzzles, but here this is only to outplay standard computer opponents who start in the same position as you do. Again, no offence but just boring - building nerdy hero chains is fun only for nerds.
What I truly appreciate is sheer uniqueness of each starting castle path - haven't seen such on another maps so far.

Fair points regarding the resources, i will consider that but the fact that you dont get 1000 tresure chests and end up having 500k gold is kindda what makes the map competitive i think.

I do not agree that the "random monsters" in the starting zone is a problem. It's in almost all maps, and the fact that they are random makes the map a little bit luck-based, which for me is great. If you're unlucky, you will snowball slower, but in big maps that is not really a problem.

And regarding your point on the objective to fight "standard computer opponents". This is simply not the case. The map is about solving a puzzle before time expires, unlocking prisons to do so while being chased by pink and figthing off boosted AI opponents.

Hey, it was not about 500K obviously. My point is about making it entertaining, and not fighting tooth and nail for every piece, which makes the map incredibly boring in the beginning. There are a lot of ways to do so, just explore other high level mapmakers creations.
You can look at Cold Day in Hell, which is standard map from HotA package. Just as a very basic example.

Just my 2 cents is that for me personally fighting tooth and nail (as Oleg puts it) is the most fun part of the majority of maps I played. After which most maps become way easier and much less fun as a result. It's nigh impossible to make an approachable map that is balanced all the way through regardless of your skill level, meaning that most people will find parts of any map either too difficult or too easy (neither being fun).

Anyway, I just wanted to add that my opinion on what's fun and interesting differs quite a lot from Oleg's, with due respect.

Последний герой легко уменьшается берсерком и любыми ненужными героями с экспертом магии огня... И даже слабым героем с манной потом он уничтожается...

An interesting map so far 213. There remains are the green far in the opposite top corner and the almighty pink. The very strong pink starting hero wiped out 2-3 opponents early and I took advantage of that. There is no visible access to the pink castle in the future. If it is found it will require a huge army, which with 10 cities so far, it will probably only be a matter of time.
I suggest AI boosting with 1-2 starting good heroes on except the other boosts, as they cannot take advantage of them now. It will make the map very competitive.

Glad to hear that the map works. Regarding the AI (not pink) i think it's hard to give them more boost, as i want all factons to be playable and balanced. When i played the map myself the purple AI was incredibly strong tbf. :)

You're right about the random outcome. For me, the strong initial pink basically destroyed the purple very quickly. If it had come to me, I would probably be disappointed with the sequel.
I usually get bored easily when I gain a clear advantage. Although I have it, the constant coming and going of the pinks keeps me alert. To the credit of your map, I haven't been bored for a moment. Bravo and thank you.

срочно забрать Лазурного дракона в ящике пандоры за 5000 проход где(80+ лучников пробьют там)
Так как впервые искал то не знаю что, то понятно Элозара с дверью измерений не видел... Он - цель номер один, потом любой с ТП и последний бой на картинке - легко... Там где черную палатку читаем жертвуем ненужными в том числе и архидьяволами... Карта скудна ресурсами - поэтому если дипломат + взятие цитадели + продажа ненужных - так возможно ускорит победу

dunno about you, but I think getting killed on 126 should not happen. the OP ai has an easy time rolling you over, while you struggle to even farm your own region (at least that was my experience). i may just be a peasant and this map was made for better players (tried fortress and dungeon starts) but for me the ball just didn't get rolling, even though i had week 1 external wyv nest. the problems i see are: no money, too much path blocking forcing you to take fights you don't want to, imbalanced starts (dungeon started with more money compared to fortress, but many dung buildings are disabled?!)

126 sounds a little too crazy, and i will look into that haha :) The map should be easier if you play on 100% or 160% so you have starting resources to "open" the map faster.

Regarding the difference in starts it is true that neither of the factions are the same:

- Examples:

Dungeon has disabled lvl 5-7 buildings, but have external 2 dragon lairs and another town closeby in order to make up for this.

Stronghold doesn't even have a fort but has easier staring zone + gets 4 artifacts at the beginning of the map.

Tower has no mines but has a quest to solve in order to get resources. etc.

The current version of the map also has its own charm. Randomizer of luck at the very beginning of the game! The first time I was unlucky, but on the second try luck turned to my face.

You made an absolutely fantastic map! We need more maps like this! I lost the first attempt, the second one is halfway through and there is a chance of another failure.
There are minor drawbacks such as unreachable ships in shipyards. Personally, I really don't like monster doubling weeks. When you update the map, write to the moderator that this is HoTA and not SoD.
I am enjoying the map immensely, I will write more when I finish it.

Once again, thank you very much for the opportunity to play on a great map. Unfortunately, I couldn't defeat two bosses in the allotted time. Had to win by capturing the main quest castle.
What haven't I done with these guys! I fed them a bunch of great artifacts, but they still didn't take off their protective artifacts... I managed to lock Lucifer in one of the towns, and he just stood there for about two last months.
Now I know where I can find heroes that would allow me to capture Heaven much earlier. These heroes can be released very early. It seems to me that you forgot to block the spyglass needed for the quest to free these guys. Found another non-working shipyard 112.57.0.
The map is really replayable, I'll be happy to play for another faction later! Thanks for uploading!!!

I don't know what the deal is with Lucifer haha.

Only the best heroes are meant to require spyglasses (one for each faction + a guy with DD), meanwhile the others require some other quest or simply to beat up some monster stack. I'll look into it and fix the shipyards too...

In my opinion, the difficulty of the map turned out to be optimal. The enemy will definitely not let you get bored and you always have something to strive for.
This is how I managed to neutralize Lucifer. After I found Eovacius, my main character immediately changed. This gave me a great secondary hero who outperformed Lucifer in movement points. After Lucifer entered the town, my secondary character stopped at the distance of one day from this town, but in such a way that Lucifer could not reach my hero by several steps. In order not to lose the town without a fight, he waited until I retreated from the "one-day capture zone" of the town or came within his reach. So he sat in the town without moving for two months, exactly until my victory :) The only problem was that it was a Factory... So Lucik greatly reduced the number of my troops...
I agree with you about the guy with DD, it will give the opportunity for speedrunning. With this guy you can try to win the map in two or three months. Later I will definitely try a couple more attempts with other factions. One for speedrun and in the second I will try to clear out all the enemy heroes before capturing Heaven.
