My criticisms:
- Get rid of the silly pandora's box and hole mazes in the underground, it kills the immersiveness
- Similarly, the long maze with the quest guards that need dwarves is annoying.
The secrets can be infuriating, but I guess that's part of the fun lol
Other than that, 10/10!

Is there any solution for this really unfortunate issue?

I do wish there was some type of aid or something to help you know if you messed something up or not. XD

I loved how true to the story it was. It also messed with your head...a lot of artifacts look like something else, so you have to be very watchful. Eowyn was utterly pointless though, I stood her on the sign throughout the whole game but never used her. By the time I had fly, her 400 cavalry seemed quite paltry. But overall, highly recommended!

When I placed her on the stack, the nazgul didnt attack her. I still think i might need to reinstall the game because everyone I saw on youtube playing the map, didnt actually place her on the sign, she was staying in the small field she has and the nazgul didnt even show itself. In my game the nazgul comes out of the underground at like day 2-4, picks some resources up and then stays in one place waiting for eowynn to leave the stack.

Later u will need the tunic of the cyclops king for the angelic alliance and you have no chance... about 10 hours of playing gone because of the messed up start :(

He goes through the portal, I am able to escape with Gandalf, having already visited the duck pond before, but before going through the portal he first re-captures his lair, meaning you cannot cross "the bridge" anymore: you gave up the Boots of Levitation, and not possible to Town Portal to the Lair.

Also, having Orb of Vulnerability is too OP, I managed to kill ALL 5000 dragons, and with cloak of the undead resurrected 64K skeletons, then sold them for gold and gems o no resources issue.

Got the same bug. Uninstalled game then reinstalled HoMM III Complete HD 5.0 RC1 Launcher.
This fixed the bug. I probably won't update ever again to avoid this.

I had the same bug. You can let Balrog kill Gandalf and recruit him the next week. Then I reached Balrog's town with my second pair of boots of levitation. Balrog disappeared after one week since orange player lost his last town...

Don't know if it was luck or something else but when I put some troops in to Balrog's lair garrison and then went waiting next to the portal, then Balrog "dropped out" like it was supposed to.

I didn't know that it mattered which way I would lose him. Later it turned out that this act broke the whole game.
I studied the map in editor and figured out that Gothmog was supposed to get the Ring of Life from Isildur and get by the Quest Guard. Since he didn't have the ring, he got stuck and vanished in 7 days along with the Cyclops Tunic.
You should fix this in 4.1.

Basically you just have to get past the Angelic Alliance quest guard, so I just used the spell cheat code and flew across the guard. Then just sacrifice the artifacts you would have lost to continue along the story. You are left with the spells but it's either that or starting all over.

The Lord of the Rings Classic Adventure Story walkthrough
!!! Tha Map is "The Shadow of Death" and has not been tested with WoG, Era etc.
My recommendation is to play in the classic version of Heroes 3 The Shadow of Death.
Install:
Copy all files from the "Data" folder to [gamefolder]/Data.
If you use HoMM3 HD copy all _HD3_Data/Common files to [gamefolder]/_HD3_Data/Common.
HD mod can be downloaded here: https://sites.google.com/site/heroes3hd/eng/download
Note: If these data files already exist, back them up before copying
