Several towns had made complains that the two allied central kingdoms are making the trades difficult. Kingdoms that are affected had agreed to declare war against the two to finish the problems once and for all.

We went with fortress and we are splitting the troops so that I get the level 7s and my son gets everything else. It's so much fun fighting with chaos hydras. Cast expert haste on them and they get all over the board, there's no retaliation against them and they attack many pieces simultaneously. People don't get to run away easily, even if we didn't have the shackles of war.
That scenario puts you in the middle with enemies all around. The received wisdom is that you abandon the middle and conquer an area to the south first to beat that scenario. But we held on to the middle by combining troops and finding the grail for defence and the tome of earth magic so that my chaos hydras (heil hydra) could portal in and defend the central town whenever necessary. It's a really fun allied scenario, so thankyou to its maker. It's just month 3 and we're 4 towns off conquering the map.

A human is a player located in the centre of the map and attacked from every direction by stronger enemy heroes (3 enemies on the surface or 2 underground). That means you firstly have to figure out how to simply survive and make hero who will fight against foes even several times stronger in terms of the amount of army (they also have artifacts and higher stats).
Water area is empty but it doesn't matter - enemy presses so hard that it would not be possible to swim around anyway. I think that the land could be done better because it seems quite empty but it is still fine to play.
I finished it playing solo at impossible so it is feasible to win. I started as blue Conflux with Labetha (Grindan is blocked) and focused on red AI that also has Conflux but I don't recommend doing that because you can only resurrect Phoenixes and Sprites (besides I couldn't find ressurection spell for a long time anyways and Conflux units cost a lot of money). Then I attacked bronze and switched army to undead with Phoenixes. After defeating disgutingly powerful Solmyr (teal has built grall) there were no more problems to finish the game. Important thing is to defeat as many heroes as you can to get their artifacts (for example to got Wizard's Hat). Aim to get DD, Fly, Town Portal, destroy with Implosion if you don't have enough army summon earth elementals then ressurect.
Thinking about it now it should be easier to start underground as orange and conquer pink (start as Inferno and use town portals from towns to defend and accumulate army) or conquer violet (start as Necro, search for raise dead spell and defend at northeast underground). Good tip is to check refugee camps. I was lucky and got Ancient Behemoth in the second week so with that fella I could defeat most of the neutral creatures around starting town early.
tl;dr
Very hard to play but possible to win. Map for experienced players. It is done well but feels empty.

Mistake - Behind Enemy Lines
I made a mistake there are 4 enemies on the surface not 3.
Author: gsandro (athens), 08-10-2020 20:43 Like Map revision - Behind Enemy Lines We are two die hard Veteran players that played the map twice in order to win, which we did in allied version. Although it is a brilliant map but it needs a some revision.
More specifically human players should be given some help other wise they game is never ending from constant harassment from the AI attacks. So, add some reinforcements to the starting Castle like Citadel status and few troops for the defense as an event at the end of first month. Then the map will be more playable, although very difficult. Other wise the players will need lots of luck or lots of reloading to finish this scenario. Thanks for the map in any case is a good design but needs few refinements.

added notes - Behind Enemy Lines
Having finished this already twice, my advice to all future players. Play it, it is difficult but it can be done.
The trick is to abandon your starting castle and conquer another one. The player above should move south to the swamp area, and take the west castle first.
The player in underground should move east and attack so to take computer manned castles.

I always remove TP, Fly, etc. So if inferno didn't have portals, there wouldn't be any chance I could win the game.
I don't believe it's playable on a King, or you should be very lucky.
It is hard, but it's a challenge, it's interesting! Don't know why people are so angry. I give it 10.
Author: Roboto (United States), 19-09-2019 08:10 Like Very difficult, do not recommend playing on difficulty higher than hard - Behind Enemy Lines - Behin Revised score after replaying on Hard and this time acquiring Dimension Door and Town Portal to compete against AI.
Author: Roboto (United States), 19-09-2019 00:47 Like Very difficult, do not recommend playing on difficulty higher than hard - Behind Enemy Lines This map is pretty overwhelming because both human controller starting positions are in very disadvantageous areas. As soon as your main hero treks out of your starting area, at least 1-2 computers will move in on your territory. Additionally, the AI starts off with more to begin with so not only are you fighting on multiple fronts to start but are handicapped to boot before you even factor in the difficulty setting. I got wrecked on Impossible.
On Hard, I had superior armies but ran into Solymyr and Aislinn with Power 20 + in Month 2, which completely wrecked me.

Author of "Behind the Enemy Lines" Map - Behind Enemy Lines
The map can be played at queen difficulty but not sure about king. We had played and finish the map couple of times both single and allied Players. You have to appreciate the difficulty of the map since it's designed for veteran players which you have to out smart the AI. I'm not saying we finish the game with just one go, the first few games we had was also a failure. hehe
I give you a tip from my experience, you have to strike after the first month so you will not get overwhelm when other AI are moving closer to you. Accept when your main town got captured, I got that alot of time. hehe
