Got lucky that my random castle assignment was Inferno so I could gate around to orange and purple starting castles. For balance, would recommend disabling Castle Gate to make it more even for other factions.
Did not run into any bugs in my playthrough.
I was not able to put together any combination artifacts so my main never got too overpowered. Due to the variety of entrances to each castle I had to station at least one strong hero/army at strategic points and explore with just my main as the game got along.
Resource mines are a bit scarce on the map so building up those 7th levels and mage guilds is a bit of a pain.

I'm working on a new map and will put more mines on it.
The purpose of the two Infernos + Castle Gates was to grant any player who conquered both halves of the Underground greater mobility for the rest of the match. But I can see how it could tip the scale too much, especially for Inferno starters.
