Author: Thomas Aquinas (Russia), 06-06-2025 19:09 Added Russian, Chinese and Polish versions - Angels are Back Hello friends!
As promised, I translated the map into Russian and tried to translate the map into Chinese. Dear Evgeniy (the owner of the site) updated the map file today. Now the package contains four versions of the map:
AnBack_(ENG).h4c - English version (any Heroes4)
AnBack_(RUS).h4c - Russian version (you need Russian Heroes4)
AnBack_(POL).h4c - Polish version (you need Polish Heroes4)
AnBack_(CHN).h4c - Chinese version (you need Chinese Heroes4

Fine! - Angels are Back
Yeah, please do.
The only thing I concern about is that my maps should be distributed with their appropriate "read-me" files. Their absence may cause a lot of frustration and confusion, especially when people try to play heavily scripted maps like they were standard ones...
And regarding Russian translation, my favorite ever comment to "Angels are back" came from a Russian player long time ago. It read (transliterated since I don't have Cyrilics): 'Ya prosto ohuyel ot togo shyedyevra!" :D

translation.. - Angels are Back
Hello friend Ururam Tururam.
It seems I slightly overestimated my strength. :) Unfortunately, due to lack of free time, I will only do a translation into Russian. The translation will be done from the Polish original map that I have. The names of the heroes and the names of the cities, as well as the names of the quests, will also be translated into Russian for the integrity of the text. When I finish, I will ask Evgeny, the owner of this site, to update the map page so that he can add two additional versions of the map to the map already posted here in English. Polish, Russian, and slightly correct the description. That's roughly the plan, I hope everything works out.
Don't worry about the file (read-me), it will be included in the package with the maps. Excellent Russian commentary, it subtly conveys the player's admiration for the map. (ha-ha.. Expect the result. I wish you health and activity.
Author: Thomas Aquinas (Russia), 30-05-2025 23:26 The map has been checked - everything is ok! - Angels are Back Hello, friend ColdWarrior!
We continue to study the work of the "old man" Ururam Tururam (ha-ha..
[damn, again English cannot correctly express the meaning of the word, so I will write for you in Russian (СТАРИНА Tururam)]
Old man Ururam Tururam does not even suspect that you and I have pulled his map out of oblivion and passions are boiling over it... I hope he is alive and well, although many years have passed since he worked hard to create this map. If Ururam Tururam sometimes read the forum (Eugene, who carefully saved for us the works of many Heroes fans - for which he deserves thanks and respect) then I think Tururam would join our interesting conversation and maybe even want to create a couple more maps for Heroes4, but unfortunately he apparently abandoned the game. Therefore, you and I will have to figure out his map ourselves.
So I still haven’t really played the map (unfortunately, I have little free time), but I decided to check your words (you never know, suddenly Ururam Tururam really screwed up). In general, I quickly created a TEST map in the editor on which I reproduced the conditions (as if I were really playing on the map), that is, I assigned one of my heroes to all the cities and garrisons of hell in three to five cells from the objects. Then I began to play quickly capturing cities and garrisons. As a result, I realized that Ururam Tururam created dynamic victory conditions on the map that depended mainly on the Garrisons. The minimum time to win the map is the 3rd day of the second week of the first month. You can't win before this time.
Winning has different forms, but the most correct way is this:
First, cities are captured (Cherubium) and (Seraphium), they allow you to make them yours. Then all other cities are defeated, but they always remain only (allied), that is, they do not belong to you. It is best, of course, to capture all the cities before the first term (Riots), which is 29 days (but I do not know if this is possible - you need to check on a real map). So only after capturing all the cities, you need to start capturing (Hell's Garrisons), but you do not need to leave Heroes in them. You need to leave troops without a hero. In the Hell's garrisons (Ururam Tururam), I implemented a script that should work out its program one way or another. This is manifested in the fact that the player will see several attempts to attack these garrisons with hell forces after they have become yours. They must be recaptured. This is the condition for victory [you must HOLD these garrisons several times]. After several attacks, you get victory. At the same time, you do not need to kill anyone extra on the map. I mean neutrals or other fighters. After several repelled attacks in the Garrisons of Hell, you are instantly given victory.
However, if you have dragged out the game and reached the start dates of the uprisings and do not keep your warriors in the Garrisons of Hell, then the script (Garrisons of Hell) is rebuilt and the attacks begin to repeat one after another. Therefore, the prerequisite for victory is control over all the cities on the map. As the author of the map says. Control all the cities and Hold the Garrisons. Therefore, he does not deceive the players. I agree with you, the author could have outlined this point more informatively, but for some reason he gave little information on this matter to the players. If you dig around the Internet, you can find a post by (Ururam Tururam) himself, in which he writes that he created (several strange functions) on the map
and would like to know what players think about them. Apparently he meant the mechanism of shifting victory conditions created by the Garrisons of Hell.
In general, I tested the map on a variety of options for the order of taking cities and Garrisons of Hell. Victory was ALWAYS awarded. You just need to follow the sequence. 1) Cities. 2) Garrisons of Hell (capture and leave your units there). 3) Working out the scripts of Garrisons of Hell [several attacks]. 4) Holding Garrisons of Hell. 5) Victory. Below I attach a picture in which a message is displayed after which VICTORY is always awarded.
Along the way, getting acquainted with the work of the "old man" Ururam Tururam, I discovered that in addition to individual maps, he also created a decent campaign consisting of 5 double-sided maps united by a common plot (Saga of Depierrelles, part I)
for which he received many good reviews. I had never heard of this before, so perhaps if I have free time I will watch this campaign. And I recommend you watch it.
As I understand, you, friend ColdWarrior, are also trying to create something like a company in the case of yours (The Unforgiving), this is very commendable. Currently, very few authors work with heroes4. In fact, I know only three who are trying to create something grand: Ston3M4son, you and Artur Suvorin. We need to appreciate each other. Well, Ston3M4son and I have already established contact quite well (ha-ha... As I understand it, my friend ColdWarrior, we may yet have to become friends in the indefinite future, as is customary among Russians after a good fight (ha-ha... Regarding Artur Suvorin. Well, I'll get to him yet... let him prepare for now (ha-ha...
So, a question for you, my friend ColdWarrior.
Since you said: (And I don't care if someone criticizes me for real reasons. Being a creator means that you must learn to accept criticism, even if it is harsh.)
Question:
Why did you give the heroes names in Russian on your map (The Unforgiving)? And why is the generation of the Endurance potion disabled in the map properties? Explain to me clearly how it bothered you? (Ston3M4son told me last time that the potion took up a lot of space in his backpack on the map. Thank God I managed to convince him otherwise.) Just don't pout like a boy, but try to explain clearly and reasonably why this is so on your map?
Here is a picture with the text after which victory is always given on the Angels are Back! map.
Yeah, ofc it's impossible to conquer all the cities within 29 days (on Champion at least), that's nuts.
>[you must HOLD these garrisons several times]. After several attacks, you get victory. At the same time, you do not need to kill anyone extra on the map.
You know, I'd prefer to kill anything extra or to do anything else rather than retaking the same garrisons over and over again. That is my problem with the map. You don't have time to play it, well, I don't have time to be jerked around by bad design decisions either. When this map decided to recycle content so blatantly, it lost me.
The thing is, you just looking things up in the editor, basically cheating. You're supposed to play maps blindly, not doing an entire research just to have pleasant experience, ffs.
Why I use Russian names for heroes in TU? Because it's made for Russians, duh. I plan on making proper English version, but it won't be for a while. Campaign is still in development at this point.
Potion of Endurance is practically useless in Unforgiving because you learn the Endurance spell early on, and it would only take place of more useful potions (ones that help in battles) in shops. I wanted to minimise the chance of getting bad potions so the player has a higher chance of getting healing potion or potion of immortality, or anything that is more favorable to Endurance. Basically minimising luck requirement.
I'll advise you to play maps before criticizing or defending them next time so you know what's up.
Author: Thomas Aquinas (Russia), 28-05-2025 08:03 In defense of the map from the previous post... - Angels are Back Since any map that a person spent effort to create is worthy of at least just saying thank you for it, I decided to soften the influence of the previous post by my friend "ColdWarrior" on the halo of the map "Angels are Back".
Since my friend ColdWarrior also sometimes creates maps that can seem difficult to some players. Then he himself is not protected from such a situation that his map can be "unreasonably scolded" without understanding his ideas. Naturally, this would not be pleasant for him because he puts in a lot of effort trying to create a good map. Therefore, be more lenient with your colleagues, of which there are not many. We are all not perfect, but this does not mean that we should not try to create something ...
So:
The author of the map "Angels are Back" recommends reading his file "AnBack.txt" before starting the game, in which he warns that if you are weak in the game Heroes4, then you are not recommended to play on Champion difficulty levels. Play on easier levels until you learn to understand the game properly. So if a player can't handle the map, it's because he may have overestimated his strength.
Since the site https://www.maps4heroes.com/ in the map archive for some reason does not have the original file "AnBack.txt", I decided to publish its contents right here below in text. So that players can read it and calculate their strength when playing on the map. The file is taken from an old German site and pulled out of the archive where the original map was.

Expert: A real challenge! Expect heavy resistance.
Champion: Unbelievably thorny. Actually not recommended.

Name: Richeliette
Class: Cardinal
Level: 3
Skills: basic: Life Magic, Healing, Nobility, Diplomacy
Special Skill: Summoning Angels. From time to time she summons an angel
to her army. The power of this skill depends on several factors:
- player difficulty level (the lower the better);
- hero level (the higher the better)
- secondary skills (some are helpful some are harmful, which are which?
try to guess!);
- carried artifacts (equipped or in backpack, they can improve or ruin
this skill, guess which ones are good and which ones are bad).

The simplest way is to share the archive AnBack.zip.

Caution! This map is very large and uses a lot of graphics effects.
The gameplay may be slow on older machines (broken animations, looong
computer player turns.)
And - last but not least - English is not my native language. This is a
translation. Sorry for all errors and mistakes, and sorry for all the
funny wordplays I was unable to translate...

Even this description misleads players and you have the audacity to defend this map when you didn't even play it.
He states "To win you should conquer all the towns, and control all the hell gates." It is not true. You need to kill every player, but because they always get their towns back, you need to get really lucky or grind mindlessly. Until then, they will come back to life every time.
But I give him credit for actually not recommending to play on Champion. He's right, it sucks. But it's by design.
And I don't care if someone criticizes me for genuine reasons. Being a creator means that you should learn to take criticism, even if it's harsh.

answer - Angels are Back
I decided to highlight the answer in a separate post. Read above..
Author: ColdWarrior (Ekaterinburg, Russia), 24-05-2025 21:17 Opinion - Angels are Back This is the most BS map I've ever played. It's not difficult, just designed in a worst way possible. Played on Champion, I guess that's my fault, but it's dev's fault for making it shit. All enemy cities rebel constantly, making controlling the map pain in the ass. But you HAVE TO. It's literally winning condition. There's also a hell gates that do the same, map gives you a hint to put an army there, but you don't know how many units needed for it to not be overtaken. I put a small army there with a hero and an angel, and in a couple days it got retaken by demons. I left all other gates wide open and they stood longer. WTF?
The map tells that your winning condition is to take over all towns and gates of hell. But it's not true, once again, author is a terrible communicator. You HAVE TO kill all players, even tho they always get their cities back within a couple of days. Stupid luck-based winning condition. I regret playing this.
Also, the map design (map itself, not the minimap) is one of the worst I've seen yet. No roads, no clear understanding of where to go. And you need to move here always back and forth, this is how this atrocity was made. Such a big mess.
Image on the minimap is the only redeeming quality this map has, frankly.

It was a mistake to swear.. the map is normal - Angels are Back
Hello, friend ColdWarrior!
I laughed heartily reading your comment. I think (COLD) ColdWarrior [ХОЛОДНЫЙ ColdWarrior ПОГОРЯЧИЛСЯ ха-ха..парадокс] got carried away by cursing the map.
I've never played this map, but I quickly looked at it in the editor. Yes, indeed, there are no roads on the map. But that's nonsense. You complained that enemy cities were rebelling and you didn't like it. This friend was apparently conceived by the author of the map as a kind of plot. Therefore, scolding him for this is not nice on your part. You just had to find a strategy in which you would successfully play in these conditions. But as I understand it, you couldn't do that.
It's also possible that you played this map on Equilibris 3.55 (on which you wrote your map [The Unforgiving]), if so, then this is a mistake, the map was written for the classics. By the way, a few words about your map, you didn't get a lot of audience only because you chose to create the map this "fucked up" version of Equilibris 3.55. If you had created your map at least on version 3.51, it would have been better, and if you had written your map on Classic, the whole world would have applauded you. You traded this opportunity for the ghostly and dubious benefits that the skewed Equilibris 3.55 promises (but you won't understand). Okay, here's a brief strategy that you had to stick to on the Angels Return map:
In the conditions of the map (RIOT - rebellion) [damn English can't even translate this word correctly, so I'll write it for you here in Russian (БУНТ)] it is planned like this: first the Red player (starting from day 29) then the purple player (starting from day 39) then the green player (starting from day 49) then the orange player (starting from day 100), Garrisons rebel when a Hero is left in them (since he is tempted by the forces of hell and cannot resist). So, first you had to capture Orange cities. Then Green. Then Purple. And only at the very end Red. Garrisons, no matter when, just don't leave Heroes there. It is desirable to do all this within 29 days, but I don't know if this is possible or not since I have never played on this map. If you couldn't manage it in 29 days then the next critical threshold is 39 days but you will have to control red cities starting from day 29. And so on. Then you will understand... If I have free time I will probably play this map. But for now I don't have time.
If you didn't play it, perhaps you shouldn't defend it? Because making these riots happen so often was just a bad idea, it only made map unfair and tedious. It gained nothing. It's not fun to play under these conditions. I could've won easily if I spent another 3 or so hours doing exactly what I was doing before, but the map clearly says that I needed to control every town and every hell gate, which I did at the time of dropping it.
Sometimes towns riot the very next day after being liberated. It's comical.
I agree, my bad for playing it on Equi. But I'm pretty sure it doesn't affect the variables that control rebellions and such. About The Unforgiving, I've gained plenty of audience, just not on this site. I've had my own reasons for picking this exact version of the game. At this point there's no going back anyway. It's literally impossible to create Unforgiving under vanilla. You can't even change portraits and balance is terrible all around.
The whole world wouldn't applaud me anyway, that's just naive. This game is like Gauldoth, half-dead.
Good job looking into map editor, but I'm pretty sure regular player should grasp how the game works from the game itself.
So basically your defence is saying that I have a skill issue. That's lame, but ok. Your idea of difficulty is making the player do the same thing as many times as possible, which is low-key mobile game mechanic.
I stand by what I said, the map is unplayable because of garbage rebellion mechanic. Take it out and you got yourself a somewhat decent map. Until then, would not recommend.

Author: Erlend (Norway), 08-11-2012 17:55 Like Beautiful map! Unquestionably a beautiful map, with a quite high difficulty level. Gameplay is a bit chaotic, though, since there are few separate sectors on the map, and as a result enemies seem to appear from all directions. Also, the variable that governs rebellion in the captured towns is set way too high, with a rebellion appearing every 2 or 3 turns. Because of that, you need at least 3 separate, strong armies to capture all the enemy towns simultaneously. Anyway, I enjoyed the map. Thanks!
